Having released 12 albums since the early 1970s, Smither is a profound songwriter, a blistering guitarist and, as he puts it, a "one-man band to the bone." Smither melds the styles of his two major influences, Lightnin' Hopkins and Mississippi John Hurt, into his own signature guitar sound. Smither is highly regarded among his peers for his blues and Americana music. Blues guitarist Chris Smither will perform tonight, and The Youngers and Free Range Folk will perform Saturday. The third Jenny, Ruth Moody, contributes a simple, powerful composition in Glory Bound, and her slightly saccharine voice proves the most efficacious in tight harmony on the Gillian Welch-David Rawlings number One More Dollar.Mauch Chunk Opera House will present two musical performances this weekend.
